A slice of Joel Emmanuel's life.
I’m Joel Emmanuel, a cancer survivor and an amputee from the Philippines. I spent my first five years in Malaysia, where my Dad worked as Senior Communication Officer of an ASEAN organization for twelve years. I’m the youngest in the family with two brothers and four sisters. I also have my own family now, with my amazing wife and our precocious son.
A professional in photography and general audiovisual arena—encompassing print, video, layout and graphic arts—I have conceptualized and produced for the Philippines’ Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), a government agency under the Department of Agriculture, where I had my first job in May 2012, logos, layout and graphic designs that BFAR now uses for the Bureau’s battery of information, education and communication (IEC) materials. I have since put to good use my expertise in such softwares as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, Sony Vegas, etc.
My experience in graphic design, particularly in product photography, improved more significantly when I worked online as Travando’s Graphic Designer and Product Photographer for their Amazon stores both in the USA and Europe for five years. Travando is a German-based company, specializing in e-commerce for such products as RFID wallets and travel accessories.
I have likewise earned citations for my photographic skills, including the Best of the Month Award for PIXOTO’s worldwide online photo competition, the WPPC (Wedding and Portrait Photographers) Accolade of Excellence awards and third place Photographer of the Year 2014 by the WPPC of CALABARZON.
